Belarus/Russia

RU-3878481

Welcome to Belarus

Niasvizh

Astute blog watchers will notice that this card is from Belarus but has a Russian (RU) prefix instead of a Belarussian (BY) one!  The sender was visiting her grandmother in Belarus and sent this card from there, so (in Postcrossing terms) this was technically a card sent from Russia, but actually mailed from Belarus!)

The card features Niasvizh Castle, a World Heritage site.

Le Pont-Neuf, 1872 by Pierre-Auguste Renoir

If you play the "guess the country from the Postcrossing code" game and thought "CH = China", you would be wrong.  "CH" stands for Switzerland.

The painting of this card is held at the national Gallery of Art in Washington, DC.
