Algeria

DZ-6170

Annaba, Algeria

This is my first card from Algeria as well as my first card ever received from the entire continent of Africa!  I received it on August 9, 2014.

Annaba is the fourth largest city in Algeria and on the Mediterranean coast, somewhat near the Algeria-Tunisia border.  The building in the distance with the clock tower appears to be the Annaba railway station.

The card also came with this awesome stamp and cancellation.  The stamp is in honor of the Algerian national team making it to the 2014 World Cup.

Ukraine

UA-975426

From Nadya living in Odessa, Ukraine.  This card, with it's blue tint is beautiful.  In comments of the February-March 2014 Ukraine-Russia dispute, she mentions on the card "Who knows...maybe in the next year Odessa will be Russia... :(  "

Pomegranate to Ukraine

Marilyn Monroe

A direct swap sent to Postcrossing user Miracle_ aka Janette in  Donetsk, Ukraine back in April.  Since then, Janette has either changed her user name or quite Postcrossing.  The user name Miracle_ now appears to belong to someone in the city of Perm, Russia.

Incidently, today also marks the 1 year anniversary of my joining Postcrossing.
