A vinage postcard of the Quality Inn hotel in Flagstaff, Arizona. My guess from the clothes and some of the other cards I found this with that this is from the early 1970s.
The hotel is still around and is still a Quality Inn. However, the hotel looks a bit different. The red lettering is now white. The "cocktail lounge" signage is gone. The black/grey building outside is now a pale pink and there is a more permanent fence around the poo, as seen in this photo.
I feel silly writing that this card is of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France...because who wouldn't realize that! The card is another from my friend Catherine.
And, as today is of course Bastille Day (Le quatorze juillet) in France, hope all who celebrate it have a wonderful day!
From the American Museum of Natural History circa 1996.
Amber: Window to the Past. The small gecko lizard is estimated to be 23-30 million years old and held in Dominican amber. Apparently an x-ray revealed that the lizards bones are likely intact. The postcard goes on to explain that the leaf in the amber was "probably [chewed] by a leaf-cutter bee."
This may actually be my first official card from Canada. I figured it would be a good card to post on Canada Day! The card says it is of RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) officers pose with Aboriginal People during the Calgary Stampede in 1924.
Mounties of Canada Day? If only it also had ice hockey, curling, and Tim Hortons and it would be complete!
