USA - Indiana

Purdue University

The statue displayed in this card is a relatively new feature to Purdue University.  It shows a seated John Purdue (October 31, 1802 - September 12, 1876), the namesake of the university.  His death fell on the first day of classes for the third year of the university.  His grave is on campus, not far from this statue, on Memorial Mall.  In the background of this photo is University Hall, the oldest remaining building on campus.
